Inspired by La Croissanterie, a pastry shop in Montreal, first Croissant Tree was build in year 1981 in The Atrium on Bay (Bay and Dundas ). A window production was an instant Toronto attraction to many locals and visitors from all over the world. Pictures were taken by travelers and shown on every continent.
With fast developing downtown core, Croissant Tree quickly became a favourite place for breakfast and lunch.
With a line of fresh, hot from the oven croissants, danishes and turnovers, as well as great tasting sandwiches, salads and coffees, Croissant Tree was well positioned to open more locations. A small wholesale business started to emerge, delivering product to local restaurants.
By the year 2002 a chain of 10 locations were established (www.croissanttree.com).
At the same time wholesale operation was large enough to branch out as a separate entity.
Croissant Tree-Wholesale Division was set up in Mississauga, in a 10 000 sq ft manufacturing facility. Over the years, Croissant Tree has greatly expanded the product line and is constantly committed to developing new products.
As of January 2007, Croissant Tree-Wholesale Division has changed its name to Sweet Line Pastries
